Toyota's 2025 GR Corolla: Drivers Can Now Shift Gears with a Click of a Paddle

Toyota has announced the release of the 2025 GR Corolla, featuring a new 8-speed Direct Automatic Transmission (DAT) and enhanced performance capabilities. The latest model will be available in Canadian markets starting this fall, with a suggested retail price beginning at $47,915.

The most significant update to the GR Corolla lineup is the introduction of the GAZOO Racing DAT with paddle shifters, offering quick shifting and optimal gear selection. This new transmission option complements the existing six-speed Intelligent Manual Transmission, which has been updated with an enhanced clutch system for improved operation.

Performance enhancements include an increase in engine torque to 295 lb-ft, up from the previous 273 lb-ft, while maintaining the 300 horsepower output from its turbocharged 1.6L 3-cylinder engine. The suspension has been upgraded with rebound springs and improved rear coils for better stability and traction during cornering.

The 2025 GR Corolla also features a redesigned front bumper to improve cooling and aerodynamics. The GR-FOUR All-Wheel-Drive system remains a key feature, offering different modes (Normal, Gravel, Track) for varied driving conditions. Torsen Limited-Slip Differentials are now standard on all models to enhance cornering performance.

Inside the vehicle, drivers will find the Toyota Multimedia system with an 8-inch touchscreen, supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Safety Sense 3.0 suite comes standard, offering features such as Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control.

The 2025 GR Corolla will be available in three grades: GR Corolla Core, GR Corolla Premium, and GR Corolla Premium with DAT. The Premium grade includes additional features like a carbon fibre roof and JBL Premium Audio system. Exterior colour options include Black, White, Heavy Metal, and Supersonic Red.

• Premium M/T: $55,917
• Premium DAT: $58,137
